1. Introduction
MwendoFit is a fitness and health tracking app specifically designed to pair seamlessly with Tempofit smartwatches and wristbands. MwendoFit allows users to set and track fitness goals, monitor daily activity, and view weekly reports on steps, calories burned, and distance traveled. All data is stored locally on your device using the Hive database, ensuring no personal information leaves your device or is stored on any external servers.
2. Data Collection and Usage
MwendoFit does not collect, store, or process any personal information, including but not limited to your name, contact details, or health metrics, beyond the app’s functionality as described below. Any data generated within the app is exclusively stored on the user’s device.
- Local Data Storage: All activity data, such as step counts, distance traveled, calories burned, and any other statistics, is stored locally on your device. MwendoFit does not transmit any personal data off the device, and we do not have access to any of this information.
- No External Data Collection: MwendoFit does not export, share, or transmit any user data externally. Data remains entirely within your device’s storage and cannot be retrieved if the app is deleted or if the user changes devices.
3. Permissions and Data Access
To function effectively, MwendoFit requires certain permissions. These permissions enable core app functionalities, such as Bluetooth scanning for device pairing.
ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION: This permission is requested to facilitate Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) scanning, enabling your device to detect and connect with compatible Tempofit smartwatches and wristbands.
- Why We Need It: The Android operating system mandates the use of location permissions to enable BLE scanning, a crucial component of MwendoFit’s functionality for device pairing. However, MwendoFit does not actively collect or use location data for tracking, storing, or any other purpose beyond initiating the pairing process.
- When It’s Used: Location permissions are accessed exclusively during the device-pairing process to identify nearby Tempofit devices via Bluetooth. Once the pairing is completed, location data is no longer accessed by MwendoFit. The app does not require or use background location tracking.
Bluetooth Access: Bluetooth permissions are necessary for MwendoFit to communicate with Tempofit smartwatches and wristbands, allowing the app to sync data such as step count, distance, and calories with your device.
4. How MwendoFit Uses Location Data
MwendoFit uses location data solely to facilitate Bluetooth scanning for pairing Tempofit devices. Location data is neither stored nor shared externally.
The Google Play Console declarations made for MwendoFit specify the app’s limited location data usage:
- Location Use Case: MwendoFit only uses the ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION permission when scanning for compatible devices (e.g., Tempofit watches and wristbands). This data is used in real-time to detect and connect with nearby Tempofit devices.
- No Background Access: MwendoFit does not access location data in the background. Location data is only accessed when users initiate the pairing process, and once pairing is complete, location data is no longer used.
5. Data Security
MwendoFit values the security of your data:
- Local Storage: All data remains on your device, stored locally within the app using the Hive local database.
- No External Transmission: Data generated within MwendoFit does not leave the user’s device, is not stored on any external server, and is never shared with third parties.
- Automatic Deletion: Because all data is stored locally, once the app is uninstalled or the device is reset, all MwendoFit data is permanently deleted.
6. Third-Party Services
MwendoFit does not use or connect with any third-party services that collect or handle your data. The app functions solely as a standalone tool for fitness tracking and does not include analytics tools, advertising networks, or data-sharing integrations.
